Title: Introduction to Autotheory - Presentation + Workshop for the Inter-Actions research group (LUCA Genk)
Contributors/Performers: GIL ULLDEMOLINS, Maria
Issue Date: 2023
Abstract: This workshop wants to introduce participants to autotheoretical writing, and invite them to give this practice a try. In order to do so, it has two axis: a library of autotheoretical or autotheory-related works, and the work we'll do together during the workshop. The library has been curated so that it represents an engaging diversity of approaches and identities, and it is mostly made up of excerpts, so that it is provides digestible, sample-sized, texts. Before the workshop, participants are encouraged to peruse the library (which will be provided as a zip file), and choose at least a (theoretical) text relevant to their work (written by someone else), and bring it along. On the day of the workshop, we will engage in 4 main activities: a brief presentation on autotheory to make sure we are all on the same page; a group exchange on the material in the shared library - what was a highlight, and why? How does this text / these texts relate to one's practice and research? A generative set of exercises to start weaving the critical and the creative; and a very quick final sharing of work and impressions.
