Title: Formulation, implementation and application of embedded weak discontinuities using the partition of unity method

Abstract: In this work, an embedded weak discontinuity model will be formulated and implemented using the Partition of Unity property of the Finite Element shape functions. The performance of the developed methodology is illustrated by an application: the mesoscopic modelling of masonry walls. A thorough overview will be made of its implementation aspects. Several simulations, varying from two brick to shear wall tests, will demonstrate the potential of the new method.
