dc.description.abstractAn exploratory research on transnational information systems focused on the case of 'executive information systems within transnational firms'. Transnational firms face huge challenges and roadblocks when trying to get data and information flow seamlessly across units. Cost factor and Organisational history and cultures have greatly influence the configuration of transnational information systems-Leading transnational firms to adopt varied approaches to systems configuration. Against this backdrop, core functional systems are given priority to operate on a firm-wide common computing platform. Data management takes central stage in transnational information systems. Centralised database designs allow specialised tools with which executives at HQ can manage the tasks of monitoring, coordination, control and executive reporting.
