Parkings and congestion ouside schools: can the problem be solved? Case study in Leicestershire

Abstract

The aim of the project was to determine the extent of the parking and congestion problem outside Leicestershires schools and to identify any areas for improvement in the methods currently being used by Leicestershire County Council to address the problem. An extensive literature review was undertaken covering a study into the extent of the problem in Leicestershire, current initiatives being used by the County Council to address the problem and the levels of investment put in, the extent of the problem nationally and internationally and what initiatives and methods were being used elsewhere, particularly in Europe. The analytical part of the study included interviews and two postal questionnaires, one being for schools to complete and the other being for parents to complete. The responses received in conjunction with the literature evidence gathered, drew out a number of conclusions with 13 recommendations being made.
