Abstract: The impact of traffic and transportation on the development and welfare of populations is increasing rapidly nowadays, making them important components of the economy. An effective policy concerning traffic and transportation issues is therefore needed. Traffic estimation and prediction models play an important role in developing this policy. This master thesis aims at identifying different population segments in Flanders based on activity-travel behaviour. Furthermore, this study incorporates socio-demographic variables and the day of the week in the analysis. The ultimate goal of this research project is to predict an individual's activity-travel pattern based on his or her socio-demographic information and the day of the week.
