In this research paper we have tried to illustrate the socio-economical analysis of the Patient Outcome Measurement Tool (POMT), a medical registry built and made available by Johnson & Johnson. In the first chapter we aim to give a description of the current situation of the health care sector. The second chapter talks about what the challenges are for the health care sector in general, from different perspectives for different stakeholders. The third chapter briefly explains outcomes and why they should be measured. After all, the need for outcome measurement will drive the adoption of medical registries such as the POMT. In the fourth chapter we describe what the POMT exactly is and how it came to be. The fifth chapter talks about how the POMT answers to the challenges identified in chapter 2. Finally we give our conclusions on what we have learned throughout this research and formulate recommendations for the successful use of medical registries in a socio-economical context.-
