dc.description.abstractRecent studies showed that sCD14 levels are higher in HIV infected persons and some favored the use of sCD14 level to predict disease progression and mortality.In this report, we study the relationship between sCD14 and other markers in the light of causality issues and we study the profile of patients with high sCD14 level.Therefore, we use a cross-sectional dataset of 443 chronic HIV-infected patients treated at the University Hospital of Liege in 2011 and 2012.Structural equation models are used in order to study the complex interrelations between sCD14 levels and other biological, clinical and treatment's information.We show the influence of sCD14 levels on the immune system through its impact on CD4+, CD8+ and viral load levels, we observe his significant impact on the '2-microglobulin and C-Reactive Protein levels, and we demonstrate that the race of the patient significantly influence the sCD14 value.-
