Advisors: | CALSIUS, Joeri | Issue Date: | 2014 | Publisher: | UHasselt | Abstract: | The article of this thesis describes the meaning of the concept of holism for physical therapists in the work field. After the in-depth interviews of two groups of independent physical therapists, namely holistic and biomedical therapists, the analysis of the results was performed using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. Different important themes came out of this analysis. For holistic physical therapists, it is important not only to deal with the psychosocial aspects, but also to have a voice in the treatment and to be able to touch the patient. For biomedical physical therapists, a clear structure throughout the treatment and communication about the diseases are important elements. The differences between the treatments are described in greater detail.
