dc.description.abstract | The global competition forces companies to review business procedures and to improve their competitive strengths. Above average margin income on high quality products and intensified cost competition requires continuous improvement efforts for businesses. Six Sigma is a prominent methodology offering process improvement solutions. While being advantageous in its manifold facets, the concept of Six Sigma also suffers from a number of disadvantages and bottlenecks. This thesis will provide an overview over the Six Sigma methodology and will highlight the current bottlenecks and constraints. Process mining techniques and simulation techniques will be studied as a possibility to reduce constraints and bottlenecks of Six Sigma. The thesis will analyze where these two techniques have similarities with the Six Sigma methodology and identify linkages and connections. | - |
