Purpose: The objective of this pilot study is to evaluate the feasibility of a video-based exercise program in elderly suffering from dementia by examining (1) the adherence and (2) suitability of the program,(3) the motivation, credibility, expectations and emotions of the participants regarding the program. Methods: A total of 5 participants (89,6 ± 5,08 years) suffering from moderate Alzheimer's disease (MMSE 14,4 ± 3,44) were recruited from a nursing home. A three weeks progressive program using video-based training with musical accompaniment was performed in three weekly sessions of 30 minutes and digitally recorded to investigate the adherence and suitability of the program. After each session the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory, the Credibility Expectancy Questionnaire, and the Observed Emotion Rating Scale were conducted. Results: All participants finished the program, and adherence to the prescribed sessions averaged 88,9%. Significant differences over time were found: 1) in the number of performed repetitions for functional exercises, 2) in the quality of performances of warming-up exercises, and 3) in credibility and expectancy regarding the program. Conclusion: The present study suggests that a video-based exercise program in a group of participants with Alzheimer's disease is feasible.-
