Title: Participation is Risky. Debate on architectural and design education in the Netherlands

Abstract: This lecture performance Stads­klas 2014 took place in the exhibition space of Stroom Den Haag, reflecting on new skills of designers engaging with the city. Participants were actors from higher design education in the Netherlands. I used my book Participation is Risky as a starting point to have an interactive discussion on contemporary skills of designers. Participants were representatives of TU-Delft en Eind­ho­ven, De­sign Aca­de­my (so­ci­al de­sign), Sand­berg In­sti­tu­te, KABK-In­si­de, WD­KA- mas­ter de­sign, AKV St.Joost, Rot­ter­dam­se Aca­de­mie van Bouw­kunst en de Aca­de­mie van Bouw­kunst Am­ster­dam.
