In Hasselt Pukkelpop, a huge annual music festival takes place. Because they want to create a scenographic stage on site that relates to as many visitors as possible they asked our faculty to suggest a design for a temporary pavilion for hairdressers. 1st bachelor students designed a pavilion and Pukkelpop organised a competition for it. The designer of the best pavilion was rewarded with free tickets and the realisation of the pavilion.-
The winning pavilion was a pavilion made out of wooden beams that could be lashed by scouts. This way it was a very sustainable pavilion as the whole construction was re-usable.-

arts.review.researchContextResearch by design: some indicators and limits were given by the organisation and students were asked to start doing research in order to meet these needs.-
arts.review.impactDescriptionThe best pavilion was built on site. For both the organisation as the students it was a very good experience as students learned to work for a real client and were confronted with reality. For the organisation the design of the students was a revelation for their own approach. For the visitors as well as the hairdressers the wining pavilion offered a very well designed place that was very user centered.-
arts.review.impactReferenceImpact on 66000 visitors as well as on more than 100 students in terms of experience as well as knowledge.-
