Title: Body Alchemy
Contributors/Performers: HUYCKE, David
Issue Date: 2015
Abstract: “Body Alchemy” – Hangzhou Contemporary International Jewelry and Metal Arts Triennial is held at China Academy of Art in Hangzhou in November 2015. This exhibition focuses on the relationship and dialogue between oriental aesthetics, conceptual art, body and space of jewelry creation and metal art, in order to explore the transition of contemporary jewelry and metal art from “alchemy” to “casting body”, from material aesthetics to conceptual art and from space modeling to body language.China Academy of Art is the host academic institution and organizes all art-related activities. This international art event seeks to build a connection of sharing and exchanging knowledge and experience between international and Chinese jewelry and metal artists in this field. This exhibition features the introduction of international contemporary jewelry artists and metal artists and also the incubation of the new-generation Chinese young artists of jewelry art, forming a mature exchange platform for contemporary jewelry art circles and cultivating aggressive jewelry artists. Roaming from the thematic exhibition to the peripheral exhibition, coupled with an international academic seminar, we start from the perspectives of academic, arts, business and public aesthetic guidance, expand from the academic perspective, convert from the business perspective, and guide the public aesthetic to a multidimensional trigger of the relationship between contemporary art jewelry and people, life and urban ecology.
