Title: Night
Contributors/Performers: HUYCKE, David
Issue Date: 2017
Abstract: The silver wall object 'Night' is made of a silver sheet of half a square meter that has been hammered and planished on both sides. Through the impact of hammering on such a big and thin sheet, there is no possibility of having a plain and smooth result. Instead the surface is more organic than industrial. Afterwards the originally white surface is partly dark patinated. Both surface and color -hammering and patination- express an unplanned and risky idea, depending on the decision in time, only contrasting in time experience. Whereas the hammering and planishing can be an action going on forever, the patination is done in a moment. 'Night' was shown at Design Basel 2017 (represented by Caroline Van Hoek Gallery Brussels) and in the exhibiiton 'David Huycke - Here and Now' at Caroline Van Hoek Gallery Brussels, 2017
