Abstract: This study builds further on the topic Family Entrepreneurial Orientation (FEO). FEO will be discussed further and there will be investigated what the possible determinants of FEO are. Family cohesion is introduced as a possible determinant of FEO, it can increase FEO, this relation is explained with the paradox perspective. Socioemotional wealth (SEW) was added to this research as a moderator. To test these hypotheses, an empirical study with a sample of 104 family firms was developed. The proposed hypotheses could however not be accepted with the results of the empirical study. Although the hypotheses of this master thesis could not be accepted, however, some findings were found that could provide a stimulus for future research. The first stimulus is a positive relation between family cohesion and SEW, another notion is a relation between the generation of the controlling family and FEO.
