Title: | Sensor networks & the internet of things | Authors: | Van Assche, Bas | Advisors: | QUAX, Peter | Issue Date: | 2020 | Publisher: | tUL | Abstract: | With the Internet of Things (IoT) becoming increasingly popular, more and more domains recognize its value and invest in new applications. In this master thesis, we perform a survey on IoT communication technologies including Sigfox, LoRa/LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, LTE-M, Zigbee, Z-Wave and Thread where we analyze and compare their inner working, security and vulnerabilities. We also perform a survey on IoT Edge technologies including EdgeX, Azure IoT Edge, Balena and Fogflow where we discuss their architecture and compare their capabilities and setup. Finally, we implement an example IoT application where we minimize the electrical bill of households by scheduling their electrical devices based on the predicted electricity price. | Notes: | master in de informatica | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/32308 | Category: | T2 | Type: | Theses and Dissertations |
