The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of exercise therapy on the blood parameters growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) in subjects with nonspecific chronic low back pain (NSCLBP). Thirty-eight participants with NSCLBP were randomized to either high intensity training (HIT) or moderate intensity training (MIT). The results showed no significant differences in resting GH and IGF-1 concentrations between both groups. Also, resting GH and IGF-1 concentrations were not increased after both HIT and MIT. These results suggest that exercise therapy is not able to increase resting GH and IGF-1 concentrations after 12 weeks of training.
