The aim of this work is to develop an approach to the Hostynnyi Dvir building and the surrounding area to revitalize the facility by restoring some of the lost values and looking for new ones. This paper also explores the issue of authenticity in the context of the site and analyzes lost and acquired values over time. Starting with a historical overview, I identify the main focus of the controversial reconstruction of the 1990s. This reconstruction raises the question of the authenticity of the Hostynnyi Dvir building, which is discussed in the second chapter, based on international resolutions and international definition of authenticity, as well as on some philosophical ideas. Using the Nara grid, the different building states are compared to determine lost and acquired values, both tangible and intangible. This research allows seeing that even though some values and qualities were lost, authenticity can remain. Moreover, the Hostynnyi Dvir building can be also recognized as an intangible cultural heritage, which was previously lacking. And this discovery leads to a different approach to preserving it. Based on these findings, the approach was developed and presented in the third chapter. It includes reconnecting the building with surroundings and restoring the site's continuity by bringing back its function, and some architectural changes, which are meant to reflect its history.
