Research Context: The project was developed in the context of a search reading test for student participants in which they have to find the answer to different questions or tasks. The magazines contain a diversity of typographic navigation (readers) and index-typography (index booklets) on a micro-, meso- and macro level. Based on previous test results, the design of the 4 magazines (containing 4 different readers and 4 different index booklets), the questions and the instruction forms were developed. Conventional and unconventional index-typography is designed to connect the indexes with other typographic cues throughout the magazine’s content for navigational aid. The diversity of texts and indexes will be used for specific search tasks. This methodological approach may show improvement in the data collection connected to the search reading tasks and design.
