The Artificial Intelligems website (www.artificialintelligems.com) is created in collab with graphic designers Ine Meganck, Chloé D'Hauwe and Arthur Haegeman within the context of Anneleen Swillen's postdoctoral research. It is an active archive and a creative writing tool that serves as an experiment in documenting and presenting the different projects, talks, writings… of the research. Accessible online to an international audience, this website is an attempt to grow the research together. Other researchers, practitioners, writers… are invited to contribute their perspectives which are published on the website. Furthermore, it is an invitation to readers/viewers to use the blue and yellow sticky notes that can be found in the top left corner of the webpage to leave their thoughts, images and questions and as such enter into a dialogue concerning related research questions and topics. arts.review.researchContextThe Artificial Intelligems website aims to document and reflect on the research output (projects, artistic works, exhibitions, educational programs, talks, writings, collabs…), as well as be worked with as a tool for creative writing and presentation during the research. It is an experiment in, continuously and intermediary, in line with the research process, presenting and reflecting on the research activities, from different perspectives. For example, the notes through which website visitors can share comments, questions, references or images resulted from the wish to connect and engage with (not-yet-known) others, both within and beyond academia, during the research process. By exploring how an artistic research can be documented and displayed, which in turn emphasizes the importance of process as expressed in Swillen's PhD, this website also offers meta-perspectives on and gives insights into research in the arts. As a tool, it is an experiment in creative, reflective, participatory, writing and image-making. One of the main methodologies of the Artificial Intelligems research consists of participatory projects. The website, inspired by text writing programs and digital archives, consequently functions as an exhibition of the work of contemporary artists and designers that participate in Artificial Intelligems's projects. Upon sliding down the text box on any one of the website's pages, thousands of images of contemporary jewellery are shown. One can navigate through both the submitted images (input) as well as a selection of AI-generated imagery (output). This contributes to the transparency of the research, which is aimed at best practices, by presenting both the dataset for training a machine learning algorithm as well as the result of this generative design process. The website visitor can play with how these images are arranged by moving them around and bringing them into different relations. By reaching a diversity of participants worldwide through participatory projects, the website includes works that have rarely (or perhaps never before) been shown, making it an exciting place for jewellery makers, curators, writers, researchers, or enthusiasts at large to discover (new) work. Overall, the aim of this website is to present, reflect on and share the research with a diverse audience, ideally bringing people and practices together and resulting in a collection of interesting, exciting, thought-provoking ideas, questions, images, references and texts that contribute to research in arts, jewellery, crafts, artificial intelligence, the digital age, posthuman adornment… The format of an online place for reflection and community building makes sense given the digital nature of this research, and its wish to reach a broad, international audience. Currently, the website is still in its infancy, but its potential is being explored with each project. With time, this website can further develop into a platform home to the various activities of Artificial Intelligems as a fluid collective, being an experiment in more-than-human, nomad as well as situated, research collectivity.-
