dc.description.abstract | “An image says more than 1000 words” is a famous saying, but is this always the case? Some images do not say everything at once in a single glance. Some images invite the viewer to look longer in order to see more than what there is to see at first sight. Many visual artists are masters at creating these much-saying but slow-speaking images. These images require more work from the viewer but also provide more aesthetic pleasure. This expo brings together four contemporary artists with works that make the viewer work together with them to make the works work: Patrick Ceyssens, Guido Devadder, Stefan Peters and Eline Wagemans. A group of scientists from Brain & Cognition (KU Leuven) links empirical research to this, investigating viewing behaviour, viewing experience and art experience by eye movement registration and short questionnaires. The expo and research will run from 3 to 26 April 2023 at KADOC, Vlamingenstraat 39, Leuven. | - |
