Title: Proof of Never-Happened
Contributors/Performers: KONSCHAKE, Maria
Issue Date: 2024
Abstract: Proof of Never-Happened creates false artefacts for things that never happened. It is false evidence, so to speak. The work is part of my PhD research project at Hasselt University and the PXL-MAD School of Arts in Hasselt, Belgium, funded by the Special Research Fund (BOF) of Hasselt University (BOF21DOC04).

Research Context: Memory can be manipulated easily. The consequences of this can be frightening. Proof of Never-Happend is an examination of this. Two stereotypical forms were chosen for the realisation: a button (as a symbol for cultural memory) and a child's ring (as a symbol for individual memory). Each of the two objects is made of 2 types of glass that are not compatible with each other. After an indefinite period of time, they should self-destruct due to the internal tension. Within my research, the objects fall into the category that reflects on the relationship between jewellery, identity and memory. It is a visualiation of memory-related deviation and not based on it.
Impact Description: First results of this series were displayed in the exhibition "Visions, Ventures & Valuables" during Munich Jewellery Week 2024.
