Title: The benefits of Enforced Silence
Contributors/Performers: SCHWARZ, Margaux
Issue Date: 2023
Abstract: "The Benefits of Enforced Silence" takes the form of a live reading in an adjacent room, with a performer equipped with a lapel microphone. Within this setup, a fictional narrative unfolds, exploring the intricacies of personal expression and the contradictory relief provided by imposed constraints. The audience remains captive, solely exposed to the performer’s voice. It was shown in the frame of the performance program "Trouble!" curated by Nelson Beer at Cittipunkt in Berlin (DE) in 2023

Discipline: podiumkunsten
Research Context: This performance continues my research on voice and performativity by exploring live voice without a bodily presence.
Impact Description: Through this event, I met the curator and sound artist Nelson Beer, who I then collaborated with on my performance "Civility" shown at Indiscipline Festival organized by Wiels in 2024.
