Issue Date: | 1996 | Publisher: | CENTRO STUDIO FAUNISTICA ECOLOGIA TROPICALI, C N R | Source: | TROPICAL ZOOLOGY, 9(1). p. 187-199 | Abstract: | Four new species of the genus Archilina Ax 1959 are described from tropical areas: A, euglypta n. sp. and A. batiae n. sp. from Red Sea; A. stylifera n. sp. and A. opisthobursa n. sp. from the Caribbean (Puerto Rico). The karyotypes of all species are given: three of them have karyotypes derived from the basic set of the family Monocelididae. A sister-species relationship is proposed for the Caribbean species based on the backward position of the bursa. Because of this feature, the genus diagnosis is modified. The two Caribbean species are considered as a separate evolutionary line within the genus Archilina. | Notes: | LIMBURGS UNIV CENTRUM,DEPT SBG,B-3590 DIEPENBEEK,BELGIUM.CuriniGalletti, M, UNIV SASSARI,IST ZOOL,VIA MURONI 25,I-07100 SASSARI,ITALY. | Keywords: | Monocelididae; Archilina; systematics; Red Sea; Caribbean; biogeography | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/3391 | ISI #: | A1996UW33800009 | Type: | Journal Contribution |
