Abstract: This chapter presents the specificity of diversity and diversity management in Belgium. The text is structured in five parts. In the first section, we sketch the position of women, the elderly, ethnic minorities, the disabled, and homo- and bisexuals on the Belgian labour market. The second section presents the Belgian anti-discrimination legislation and the third one the public and private diversity initiatives. We then elaborate on the empirical research conducted on diversity in Belgium. We conclude with a reflection on the main distinctive issues concerning diversity within the Belgian context.
