Title: | Fluctuation and dissipation of work in a Joule experiment | Authors: | CLEUREN, Bart VAN DEN BROECK, Christian KAWAI, Ryoichi |
Issue Date: | 2006 | Publisher: | American Physical Society | Source: | PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS, 96(5). p. 050601-... | Abstract: | We elucidate the connection between various fluctuation theorems by a microcanonical version of the Crooks relation. We derive the microscopically exact expression for the work distribution in an idealized Joule experiment, namely, for a convex object moving at constant speed through an ideal gas. Analytic results are compared with molecular dynamics simulations of a hard disk gas. | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/1388 | ISSN: | 0031-9007 | e-ISSN: | 1079-7114 | DOI: | 10.1103/PhysRevLett.96.050601 | ISI #: | 000235252200010 | Category: | A1 | Type: | Journal Contribution | Validations: | ecoom 2007 |
