Abstract: French language and culture e-learning module for (exchange) students. This learning module was developed on the basis of a cross-cultural research project co-ordinated by professor Martine Verjans (Universiteit Hasselt – CTL). On the one hand, the researchers mapped the cultural differences and similarities between the 5 cultures of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine (EMR) + 2 migrant cultures (Poland and Turkey) based on a model of 11 cultural dimensions. On the other hand, frequent and disturbing language errors that students leaving secondary education keep on making in the neighbouring foreign languages of the EMR were inventorised. The learning module has a contrastive didactic approach, comparing the student’s native language and culture with the target language and culture. The learning modules were developed by different teams of linguistic experts in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine, each one favouring their own didactical approaches. The module contains three exercise parts and two theory parts, consisting of texts, audio and video fragments as well as pictures.
