Abstract: Conclusion The meaning of body experience for fibromyalgia patients was investigated in this study. Both intra-individual and inter-individual aspects are important. When considering embodiment as a dimensional construct, with disembodiment at one end of the spectrum and hyperembodiment on the other end, the balance inclines to hyperembodiment in fibromyalgia. Here we consider a temporary, state-dependent reversal on the axis of disembodiment possible. The personality trait alexithymia has no effect on how fibromyalgia patients experience their body.
