Abstract: ABSTRACT Investigation of the national legislation with regard to forestry is important on the one hand for decision making process at the international level, on the other — for a comparative study in order to make state policy on nature utilization and conservation more effective. The article briefly describes Flanders’ forest law in the Kingdom of Belgium. Notwithstanding the clear focus of the laws on forest conservation, restoration and afforestation, there is still much practical work, which needs to be done to achieve the major forest policy objectives.
