Abstract: To improve the design of virtual environments, we have developed an approach, called “VR-DeMo”, which allows virtual environments to be defined using conceptual modelling. The design of virtual objects with their behaviour is realized through domain concepts. Exploratory interaction design, with attention for usability, is facilitated through model-based development of interaction techniques and metaphors. This paper describes the development process and the tools supporting the integration of this approach to ease the developer’s task. The realization of an interactive tool to model a park in its urban environment is presented as a case study.
