Abstract: This report provides a comprehensive overview of the status of implementation of Directive 2010/18/EU in 33 European countries. It focuses on the way in which various types of family leave and other measures intended to promote the reconciliation of work and family life are addressed at the national level, and the extent to which these national approaches are consistent with EU law. The report addresses issues such as employment rights and non-discrimination, adoption, the right to return to work, and time off for reasons of force majeure. Possible weaknesses are identified, along with any potential lacunae in the existing EU acquis. The report also contains comprehensive country fact-sheets with specific information on the right to parental leave provided by each national legislation.
