dc.description.abstract | With the series Projections VAI and deSingel give stage to urban and architectural research in Flanders. Tales of the Allotment presents research about societal challenges of residential subdivision: under-usage, big ecological footprint, too little differentiation, unsalable houses, social tensions, etc. The main question of the exhibition is how to initiate a transition process towards a sustainable transformation of these subdivisions. The underlying hypothesis is that this would require a collective learning process among all those involved in such a subdivision. The exhibition tells five stories in which inhabitants, policy makers, designers, researchers and organisations initiate (and sustain) such a learning process and experiment with forms of collective habitation, small-scale business activities, generating renewable energy together, new coalitions and so on. | - |
