Title: | Power-Efficiency-Dissipation Relations in Linear Thermodynamics | Authors: | PROESMANS, Karel CLEUREN, Bart VAN DEN BROECK, Christian |
Issue Date: | 2016 | Publisher: | AMER PHYSICAL SOC | Source: | PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS, 116 (22) | Abstract: | We derive general relations between the maximum power, maximum efficiency, and minimum dissipation regimes from linear irreversible thermodynamics. The relations simplify further in the presence of a particular symmetry of the Onsager matrix, which can be derived from detailed balance. The results are illustrated on a periodically driven system and a three-terminal device subject to an external magnetic field. | Notes: | [Proesmans, Karel; Cleuren, Bart; Van den Broeck, Christian] Hasselt Univ, B-3590 Diepenbeek, Belgium. | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/21606 | ISSN: | 0031-9007 | e-ISSN: | 1079-7114 | DOI: | 10.1103/PhysRevLett.116.220601 | ISI #: | 000377018100002 | Rights: | © 2016 American Physical Society | Category: | A1 | Type: | Journal Contribution | Validations: | ecoom 2017 |
