Abstract: The surface resistance of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), stabilised with poly(styrene sulfonic acid) (PSS) decreases 3 orders of magnitude by adding high boiling organic solvents, such as N-methyl pyrolidone (NMP). TEM studies on these films showed that the addition of NMP creates a phase separation resulting in a porous structure. The use of high boiling solvents during the coating of PEDOT/PSS on polyester supports results in transparent conducting electrodes with 3500hm/sq and a visual light transparancy of 80%.
