Title: | A low-energy set-up for gamma-ray spectrometry of NORM tailored to the needs of a secondary smelting facility | Authors: | Lutter, Guilome Vandael Schreurs, Indy CROYMANS-PLAGHKI, Tom SCHROEYERS, Wouter SCHREURS, Sonja Hult, Mikael Marissens, Gert Stroh, Heiko Tzikaa, Faidra |
Issue Date: | 2017 | Source: | APPLIED RADIATION AND ISOTOPES, 126, p. 296-299 | Abstract: | A measurement station dedicated for quantitative radiological characterisation of naturally occurring radio-nuclides in a metallurgical company and based on gamma-ray spectrometry was developed. The station is intended for performing quality control of final non-ferrous metal products and for radiological checks of incoming materials. A low-background point-contact HPGe-detector was used and the signal was split in two branches to enable collecting simultaneously spectra with high amplification (for gamma-ray energies below 250 keV) and low amplification. | Keywords: | Pb-210; Po-210; metallurgy; industry; gamma-ray spectrometry; naturally occurring radionuclides | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/25401 | ISSN: | 0969-8043 | e-ISSN: | 1872-9800 | DOI: | 10.1016/j.apradiso.2016.12.048 | ISI #: | 000404709300070 | Rights: | © 2017 The Authors.
