Title: | The role of photobiomodulation therapy in the care of cancer patients: review of the literature | Authors: | ROBIJNS, Jolien Censabella, S BULENS, Paul MAES, Annelies Noé, L. Brosens, M. Van den Bergh, L. Claes, S. MEBIS, Jeroen |
Issue Date: | 2017 | Source: | Belgian journal of medical oncology, 11(8), p. 364-374 | Abstract: | Photobiomodulation therapy is based on the application of visible and/or (near-)infrared light on the target tissue. We performed a review of 34 articles on the use of photobiomodulation therapy in the management of cancer related lymphoedema, oral mucositis, radiodermatitis, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, osteonecrosis of the jaw, and xerostomia/hyposalivation. The findings suggest that photobiomodulation therapy is a promising option for the management of these cancer therapy-related side effects. | Keywords: | cancer; low-level laser therapy; oncology; photobiomodulation therapy; side effects; supportive care | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/25521 | Link to publication/dataset: | http://www.ariez.nl/DownloadFile.lynkx?guid=60c99c42-0ad3-4e59-b03d-4a4b1f8eb73d | ISSN: | 1784-7141 | Category: | A1 | Type: | Journal Contribution | Validations: | vabb 2019 |
