Title: The interior as interiority
Authors: IONESCU, Vlad
Issue Date: 2018
Source: Palgrave Communications, 4(33), p. 1-5
Abstract: The goal of the following article is two-fold: first, it aims to introduce some of the funda- mental challenges concerning the theory of interior design, with the aspiration of stimulating further research on the topic, notably concerning the relationship of interior design to adaptive re-use, anthropology and the fine arts. Second, the text introduces a series of essays that complement this paper, which have been collected under the title Interiorities: Artistic, Conceptual and Historical Reassessments of the Interior. The collection proposes an inter- disciplinary approach of the interior, both as an architectural challenge and as an opportunity to represent subjectivity in all its dimensions, as understanding, reflection, memory, imagi- nation and affect.
