dc.description.abstractIn de afgelopen jaren is er veel geschreven over burgerparticipatie in de stad. Via kleinschalige initiatieven van onderuit zouden burgers, activisten maar ook kunstenaars en designers een alternatieve stadsomgeving ontwerpen waarin gezamenlijkheid en collectieve betrokkenheid centraal staan. Deze bijdrage beargumenteert aan de hand van een casus uit Genk dat we ons moeten hoeden voor idealisme. Aansluiting bij meerdere spelers op meerdere niveaus is nodig, willen deze initiatieven duurzaam en representatief zijn.-
