Title: | Local and Global Influence for The Generalized Linear Mixed Model and Its Extensions | Authors: | RAKHMAWATI, Trias Wahyuni | Advisors: | MOLENBERGHS, Geert FAES, Christel VERBEKE, Geert |
Issue Date: | 2018 | Abstract: | The main objective of this thesis is to explore local influence in the context of generalized linear mixed model (GLMM) frameworks, with main focus on the diagnostics for
GLMM and its extensions, mainly when overdispersion occurs, i.e., when the mixed
model accommodates both hierarchical structure of the data as well as overdispersion
(Molenberghs et al. 2010).
The first study presented the application of local influence on the different types of
data: Gaussian data, counts, binary/binomial, and time-to-event data. Second study,
the extensions of local influence method have been considered for the counts type of
data by accommodating excess zeros. The excess zeros were handled using either a
zero-inflation or a hurdle component (Kassahun et al. 2014).
In the third study, another extension was applied to the influence of individual subjects
exert on a random-effects model for repeated measures, where the random effects
follow a mixture distribution. The perturbations on the mixture probabilities as well
as on a subject’s likelihood contributions as a whole have been considered.
In addition, local influence for counts data was developed when also incomplete cases
are taken into account in the model, in the same spirit as was done for the case of
the linear mixed model (Verbeke et al. 2001; Thijs et al. 2000). Local and global
influence for finite-mixture models of the random-effect distribution with incomplete
cases also has been introduced. |
