Research Context: This lecture was given during my Phd Research 2016_2020 Promotor: Prof. dr. David Huycke Co-promotor: Dr. Nadia Sels. Title Doctoral research Landscape - Object and Infinite A concept of infinity and objects as symbols of a process. Nature, and especially landscape, retains a strong spatial connection with man and the vivid perception of it and its representations is always a self-reconstructed image. Moreover, it is the vehicle elected to translate different perceptions of immensity. As human beings we have always dealt with nature and landscape and all their characteristics. This fascination is reflected in different movements in the arts and expressed in the willingness to recover our roots with our natural surroundings, in the current topic of the Anthropocene. The research project presented here, Landscape-Object and Infinite, will explore different perceptions of immensity. Within this context the idea of scale and size and its associations to the surrounding world (landscape, mountain, (precious) stone, object and piece of jewellery) are of major importance. The principal methodology involves looking at the immense in contrast with the small detail in the work and in its presentation. More tangibly it will question the use of stone and its expressive potential as a material in objects and jewellery.
