Title: | Ising model for a Brownian donkey | Authors: | CLEUREN, Bart VAN DEN BROECK, Christian |
Issue Date: | 2001 | Publisher: | E D P SCIENCES | Source: | EUROPHYSICS LETTERS, 54(1). p. 1-6 | Abstract: | We introduce a thermal engine consisting of N interacting Brownian particles moving in a periodic potential, featuring an alternation of hot and cold symmetric peaks. A discretized Ising-like version is solved analytically. In response to an external force, absolute negative mobility is observed for N greater than or equal to 4. For N --> infinity nonequilibrium phase transition takes place with a spontaneous symmetry breaking en ailing he appearance of a current in the absence of an external force. | Notes: | Limburgs Univ Ctr, B-3590 Diepenbeek, Belgium.Cleuren, B, Limburgs Univ Ctr, Univ Campus, B-3590 Diepenbeek, Belgium. | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/2694 | ISSN: | 0295-5075 | e-ISSN: | 1286-4854 | DOI: | 10.1209/epl/i2001-00274-6 | ISI #: | 000167767200001 | Category: | A1 | Type: | Journal Contribution | Validations: | ecoom 2002 |
