Abstract: During the last decade, there has been a growing interest in option contracts. Option contracts provide more flexibility to the buyer than wholesale contracts, with regard to the quantity of products/amount of capacity that is effectively bought from the supplier. Such flexibility is useful in today’s uncertain business environments. This paper summarizes brie y the main characteristics observed in the scientific literature.
