Title: | Lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions and costs of production of jet and diesel fuels from municipal solid waste | Authors: | MALINA, Robert | Issue Date: | 2019 | Source: | Belgian Environmental Economics Day 2019, Antwerp, 30.01.2019 | Abstract: | The presentation talks about lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions and costs of production of jet and diesel fuels made from municipal solid waste using different thermochemical conversion technologies Cost results are presented from a private investor, and from a societal perspective. We estimate median life cycle GHG emissions of 32.9 to 62.3 gCO2e/MJ, depending on the pathway, compared to a baseline of 90 gCO2e/MJ for conventional jet and diesel fuels. Median minimum selling prices are estimated at 0.99 to 1.78 $ per litre with the probability of achieving a positive net present value of fuel production at market prices of 0.1% to 14%. If the societal perspective rather than an investor’s perspective is, evaluated the probability of positive net present value of fuel production increases to 67% to 93%. | Keywords: | Alternative jet fuels; lifecycle analysis; techno-economic assessment; GHG emissions; costs of production; biofuels | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/27792 | Category: | C2 | Type: | Conference Material |
