Abstract: • Monolayer bottom web (APET) and multilayer top film (PET-PE/EVOH/PE/PETG) are sealed with heat conduction • Clean and contaminated seals (coffee, blood powder, water, oil and blood) are tested with a limited amount of tests, using the concept of a design of experiments • Seal strength is maximized with a response surface method • Corresponding seal parameters (temperature, time, pressure) are obtained for clean and contaminated seals • A customized approach is needed to obtain a high seal strength in presence of contamination
Keywords: Response surface method; heat conductive sealing; seal strength; solid contamination; liquid contamination; bottom web and top film
