A 55-year-old patient was referred to the internist-infectious disease specialist because of a presumptive diagnosis of a chronic auricle infection. However, as the patient had bilateral swelling of the ears without earlobe involvement and manifested a rapid clinical response to corticosteroids, a diagnosis of relapsing polychondritis was set. The clinical presentation, diagnostic procedures, and treatment of this illness are discussed.-
