Abstract: Antisymmetrical pseudo-Lamb waves were excited on a liquid-loaded CVD (chemical vapor deposited) diamond film via the laser-induced thermoelastic effect and were detected with the laser beam deflection technique. By fitting the dispersion curve of the waves, we were able to deduce both longitudinal and transversal velocities of the sample. This technique is suitable for the nondestructive characterization of elastic moduli of thin diamond layers.
