Abstract: The synthesis of methoxy substituted model compounds for structural analysis of alkoxy substituted poly(isothianaphthene)-derivatives (PITN) is presented. A synthetic route to the quinoid dimer is described and the results of the synthesis of the aromatic model compound are discussed.
