Title: | The Traceability of Construction and Demolition Waste in Flanders via Blockchain Technology: A Match Made in Heaven? | Authors: | VOORTER, Jonas KOOLEN, Christof |
Issue Date: | 2021 | Publisher: | BRILL | Source: | Journal for European environmental & planning law, 2021 (4) , p. 347 -369 | Abstract: | The construction sector plays a crucial role in the transition to a circular economy and a more sustainable society. With this objective in mind, Flanders-the Dutch speaking part of Belgium-makes use of a traceability procedure for construction and demolition waste in order to guarantee that value can be derived from downstream waste processing activities. This article takes this traceability procedure as a legal case study and examines if the use of blockchain technology could lead to even stronger supply chains, better data management, and, more generally, a smoother transition to circular practices in the construction sector. | Keywords: | Circular Economy;Construction and demolition waste;traceability;blockchain;data management;supply chain management | Document URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/1942/36192 | ISSN: | 1613-7272 | e-ISSN: | 1876-0104 | DOI: | 10.1163/18760104-18040003 | ISI #: | 000730436000002 | Rights: | Koninklijke brill nv, leiden, 2021 | Category: | A1 | Type: | Journal Contribution | Validations: | vabb 2023 |
