The flip side of the coin: how entrepreneurship-oriented insolvency laws can complicate finding debt financing for (high) growth entrepreneurs Abstract In this study, we examined the impact of the change towards a more debtor-friendly insolvency law on the financial policy of Belgian growth firms. Using the recent change in Belgian insolvency law as an exogenous policy shock, we investigated the changes in access to debt for growth firms, taking into account the heterogeneity of debt. Overall, our findings indicated that growth firms experience more difficulties in obtaining credit from financial institutions, after the change towards a more debtor-friendly insolvency law.-
