The complexation behaviour of a number of N-methylpropylene diamines with Ag(I) were studied in 1 M KNO3 at 25.00-degrees-C potentiometrically, employing pH and pAg measurements. Several metal/ligand ratios were used (varying from 2/1 to 1/8). Complexation of these ligands with Ag(I) in aqueous solution is described by the following species: AgL, AgLH, AgL2, AgL2H, AgL2H2, Ag2L2 and Ag2L2H. No mixed ligand hydroxo species could be detected in the concentration employed. Stability constants of a given species systematically decrease as methylation increases on the terminal amino groups due to increased steric effects.-
